A Letter to the Parents

Dear Parents,

Words cannot express how much I loved spending everyday with your kids.  Thank you for the opportunity to care, teach and enrich their lives with whatever ideas I could come up with.

  • Signing time
  • Yoga
  • Exercises
  • Racing and Games
  • Dance lessons
  • Music lessons
  • Lots of Reading
  • Writing
  • Math
  • Learning new songs every week
  • Lots of crafts
  • Baking

This opportunity has helped me re-enforce my love to work with these little citizens.  Seeing the world through their eyes has been so positive and fulfilling.  I have learned so much from each kid.  Each of them is unique and special in their own way.  Reese likes to keep the day home in check with all of our house rules.  She loves to laugh and find joy in playing with others.  And she is my biggest fan when it comes to crafts.  Rylan teaches me everything about hockey and sports. The kids look up to him, and he is my little helper.  Kayla has a beautiful voice and she loves to sing and talk a lot.  She also loves to paint and play games.  Andie is such an old soul.  She is always so kind to others and helps others.  Sebastian is very imaginative, leading his friends on daily adventures.  Gabriel is a sponge for learning.  He loves to read, write, sing and dance.  Kaelin has grown so much around her older friends.  She always has a smile on her face and sets the trends of the latest favorite toy or accessory at the day home.  Hugo is always the one to start the dancing parties.  He loves to share things he finds funny to make others laugh; his smiles and giggles are infectious.  Aiden is a role model to the kids for learning.  He likes to mimic me by reading to the kids, and teaching reading and math.  It is so hilarious to watch and makes me so proud of him.  All of the kids have grown so much.  And I am proud to see them achieve their little goals day to day.  Each and every one of them holds a special place in my heart.

I could not have done all of this without help.  I would like give a special thanks to these few volunteers with the biggest hearts and to share with you some of their contributions:

Judy

Her smiles and big heart won over the kids immediately.  Her award-winning cooking (according to the kids) has made meal time a breeze.  With any special occasion, such as Birthdays, Chinese New Year, Halloween, and so on, she was always so generous to give the kids a little gift.   She would bring over especially tasty fruits and vegetables just for the kids.  Her wonderful experience here has motivated her to start her own part-time day home.  I wish her best of luck. Contact her at judy.chan00@yahoo.com for more information if you are interested.  And please spread the word if you know anyone in need of a very loving caregiver!!

Eva aka Po Po

She is a Grandma to all the kids, spoiling them with special unique treats from all over the city.  She brings over the best wontons, donuts from the Italian bakery, Chinese eggs tarts, different fruits, Chinese jerky, and the list goes on and on.  She has exposed the kids to a variety of ethnic foods.  My rule has always been for the kids to try everything at least once.  Some experiences were misses, but when something was a surprising hit, like the Chinese jerky, I feel it’s a win for all of us to take these little risks on something different so that they may discover some wonderful joys in life.

Ed aka Gong Gong

He has the energy of a 5 year old.  The kids are constantly crawling all over him, doing flips, laughing and giggling non-stop.  Seeing all their happy faces makes me extremely grateful for his visits.

Johnny

He has helped fill in for me when I have been sick or need to go to an appointment.  Not only did he just watch the kids, he would even hold circle time, read books, and do crafts with them to uphold the quality of an enriched day home that I strive for.  He is the toy doctor whenever something needs fixing or batteries.  He does a lot of the maintenance work after hours to make sure the kids are safe and happy.  I couldn’t have done this without his support.

Sue aka Ba Noi

She is always buying new toys for the day home whenever she finds a good deal.  And she provides the best produce and fruits from her own garden, connections at grocery stores and from her gardening friends.  I love knowing that the kids can get a lot of fresh, healthy organic foods.

Thank you for being such wonderful trusting parents.  I will miss the kids, running the day home, chatting with you about your family.  When the kids are with me, I feel they are part of my family.  I hope we can all keep in touch.  Don’t be a stranger and please stop by.

I am very excited to start my next venture to go back to school to become a teacher.  I hope one day I will start my own preschool and continue what I love to do.

With lots of love,

Jenny
