Hugs and Tugs Learning Dayhome is a family dayhome in the Cameron Heights neighborhood of Edmonton, Alberta.

We focus on fun, education, nutrition, and respect. We do circle time, read books, music classes, dance, and also do yoga and relaxation. We work on arts, crafts, play with toys and paint daily to stimulate our imagination and creativity. Montessori techniques of teaching and materials are incorporated throughout the day, such as: basic lessons of math, language, the arts and sciences, guiding a child’s research and exploration, and capitalizing on his or her interests. The styles I use are through music and musical instruments, interpersonal, intuitive, linguistic and logical approaches.

Our home is pet-free and smoke-free, with lots of age-appropriate toys; and large dedicated spaces to play in. There are 3 large rooms for the kids to play and explore, and a lot of natural lighting.  We have outdoor activities in the backyard and indoor play time when the weather doesn’t permit.

Clear communication with the parents and children is very important here.  We offer daily reports on eating, bowel movements and highlights of the day.

All meals and snacks provided are home-cooked, healthy, and nutritious. Once a week the kids will have a fun time making nutritious snacks and cookies as well!

We make sure to respect everyone and learn to use manners in whatever we do.
